About the 8
Knight Cities

Knight Emerging City Champions is led by 8 80 Cities and funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Knight Foundation’s work is national in scope, but it has a special focus on 26 cities across the United States where the Knight brothers once published newspapers. This year, the program will focus on 8 of those U.S. cities where Knight has offices.

These communities are: Akron, OH; Charlotte, NC; Detroit, MI; Macon, GA; Miami, FL; Philadelphia, PA; San Jose, CA; and St. Paul, MN.
