About the Project

Pages to Power transforms Pages Bookshop into a launchpad for youth-led neighborhood change in response to a crisis: over 16,000 Detroit youth are currently disconnected from school and work. This initiative engages youth ages 10–24 through free book fairs, then organizes them into block clubs where they receive training in financial literacy, civic leadership, and creative expression. Older youth serve as paid Block Captains, leading neighborhood projects like murals and mobile libraries. With a CRM system to track impact and identify opportunities, Pages to Power builds a pipeline of youth who don’t just imagine change—they lead it, block by block.
