About the Project
Listening to the Land: An Ocmulgee Hackathon is a community-led hackathon in Macon, GA, empowering Indigenous stewards and local residents to co-create environmental sensors for ancestral Muscogee (Creek) lands. Rooted in Indigenous data ethics and relational land frameworks, participants will design open-source tools to monitor ecosystems, fostering data sovereignty and ecological remembrance. It aims to build trust, community connection, and local resilience by re-indigenizing public space and leveraging technology for conservation and climate justice.
