Raven Joiner
Raven Joiner is a proud Carolina girl, a devoted mother of two, and a passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusion. After losing her sight in 2020, she transformed that challenge into a mission to uplift others with disabilities. As a co-creator of Charlotte’s Braille Trail, Raven uses her lived experience to shape inclusive public spaces that foster creativity, healing, and connection. She brings heart, humor, and a deep sense of community pride to all she does and always picks Pepsi over Coke. Through art, storytelling, and advocacy, Raven is redefining what equity and belonging look like in the Queen City.

About the Project
The Braille Trail is more than a path-it’s a movement for inclusion, awareness, and healing. Designed to be fully accessible, it invites people of all abilities to experience public space in new ways. Through walk-and-learns, art workshops, and accessibility days, the trail builds shared understanding and pride. Tactile art, audio storytelling, and co-created installations celebrate the lives and contributions of the disabled community. This vibrant space fosters trust, creativity, and belonging while amplifying marginalized voices. The Braille Trail reimagines public space as equitable, multisensory, and transformative-connecting people through shared experiences and celebrating the power of inclusive design.
